NIRF is the acronym of National Institutional Ranking Framework. It is approved by the MHRD, Government of India, and started functioning in 2015. Again, it is the authority to provide Government rankings for certain academic institutions in India.

As per NIRF Rankings 2017, IIT, Madras is ranked number 1 in overall ranking for the Top Engineering Colleges in India. Also, it ranked first for the Teaching, Learning and Resources available. And, the median salary of placed candidates in Undergraduate programs was Rs.10 lakhs.
2. Indian Institute Of Technology, Bombay
Indian Institute Of Technology, Bombay holds rank number 1 in Research and professional practice and also for peer and public perception. Furthermore, average salary of placed candidates in Undergraduate (4 years) programs was Rs.8.8 lakhs. For UG (5 years) program, it was 9 lakhs.
