NEET Results 2018- How to Predict/ Estimate?

NEET Results 2018- How to Predict/ Estimate?

NEET Results 2018 is expected to be declared on 5th June, 2018. Many candidates try to predict/ estimate their NEET Score, percentile, Rank & whether they are eligible to be in the Merit List or Wait List for All India or State quota seats. Many private institutions also give unofficial predictions of NEET rank, results and cut off marks for different Medical or Dental Colleges.

NEET Results 2018 is predicted or estimated by many private coaching institutes using tools like NEET Rank Predictors. However, candidates should keep in mind that these are rough estimates. These tools are based on previous year’s NEET cut off marks, and opening and closing ranks of various Medical or Dental Colleges. Many of these factors vary each year. Moreover, the NEET rank predictions made by different institutions also vary widely.

NEET Results 2018- Predict/ estimate yourself!

While it is better to wait for the Official announcement of NEET Results 2018, candidates can get a rough estimate of their marks themselves by checking NEET OMR sheet and NEET Answer key for 2018. And, candidates can download NEET 2018 Answer Key, Images of OMR and Responses and Test Booklet Code of the candidates from the official CBSE NEET website, www. cbseneet.nic.in. This year, NEET OMR Sheet 2018 and Answer key were displayed from 25.05.2018 to 27.05.2018, 05:00 pm.

NEET Results 2018- Steps to Predict/ Estimate

Once the NEET OMR Sheet and Official Answer key is published by CBSE, candidates can go through the following steps to estimate/ predict NEET Results 2018 themselves. See this video about how to predict/ estimate NEET Results 2018 below:

If you prefer to read and get more details, please see the steps below:

* Firstly, download NEET OMR Sheet and Answer key for 2018. Read more about NEET OMR Sheet and NEET Answer Key here.
* Next, check for any errors in the NEET OMR Sheet and Answer key. See here how to challenge NEET OMR Sheet and Official Answer key.
* Then, calculate your NEET score ( 4 marks for correct answer, -1 for incorrect response or if more than 1 answer is checked,  and no marks for no response).
* Now, compare your calculated NEET score with previous year’s cut off. Check for NEET Cut off 2017, 2016 here.
* Also, candidates can check category wise cut-off marks for State quota seats & for specific Medical Colleges.

Check this video to get more information about NEET cut off marks:

This way, candidates can estimate or predict their NEET results 2018 and check their probability of getting admission to MBBS/ BDS Courses. However, NEET cut off score varies each year based on multiple factors including the difficulty level of the NEET question paper, varying number of NEET applicants and the number of available MBBS/ BDS seats.

Predicting/ Estimating NEET Results 2018- Additional factors

When candidates try to predict/ estimate NEET Results 2018, consider these important factors too. An important criteria for eligibility for admission to MBBS/ BDS Courses in 2018 is to secure NEET score within the qualifying percentile for respective category.  Check below the qualifying percentile for NEET score, for each category, for NEET 2018:

Category                                       Qualifying Percentile
Unreserved                                  50th percentile
SC/ ST/ OBC                                 40th percentile
UR- PH                                          45th percentile
SC-PH/ ST-PH/ OBC-PH      40th percentile

NEET Results 2018- Calculating NEET percentile

According to the official CBSE NEET Bulletin, the NEET “percentile shall be determined on the basis of highest marks secured in the All India common merit list in National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test for admission to MBBS/BDS courses.”

NEET percentile based on highest marks

Check how to calculate NEET percentile based on highest marks obtained in NEET:

Let’s assume that the highest marks scored by the NEET topper is 700 and your NEET score is 650. Then, your NEET percentile will be 650 x 100/ 700 = 92.85

NEET percentile based on rank

However, in order to calculate percentile based on rank, another formula is used. Check how to calculate NEET percentile based on NEET rank:

Let’s assume that your NEET rank is 200 and the total number of NEET candidates is 11 lakhs. Then, your NEET percentile will be (11,00,000-200/11,00,000)x100=99.98

NEET Results 2018- Tie-breaking criteria

Another important factor that determines NEET Results 2018 is the inter-se-merit of candidates for tie-breaking. If more than one candidate have secured same marks for NEET, the inter-se-merit is determined in the following order:

(a) Candidates with higher marks in Biology for NEET.
(b) Candidates with higher marks in Chemistry for NEET.
(c) Candidates with less number of attempted wrong answers in NEET.
(d) Candidates older in age.
